Suggested Roadmap for Using the Framework

Summary

The framework is a tool and this section outlines our suggested roadmap for using it effectively.

Suggested Roadmap. Step 1: Read the Framework and Grounding Concepts. Step 2: Convene stakeholders and thought partners. Together, identify your community. Step 3: Gather research to understand your community profile and breakdown. Highlight the population segments that you will prioritize in your community strategy. Step 4: Develop a guiding vision for your community strategy. This is your ‘North Star.’ It tells you which way you’re headed. Step 5: Gather existing data related to demographics, income, loneliness, belonging, risk and protective factors (e.g. transportation, greenspace) for your community. Step 6: Explore how belonging could be better supported in your community. Consider gaps, overlaps, complementary, connected, and not-yet-connected assets, services, supports. Listen to community members. Step 7: Design the process of changes and action by which you will move toward your guiding vision. Step 8: Activate a network of networks (formal and informal) to amplify and aggregate efforts. Consider related priorities and change agendas that can be leveraged to amplify or accelerate efforts. Step 9: Track the impact of your efforts using existing and new data sources. Step 10: Learn what’s working and be strengthened by each other’s efforts.
